Difficulty
Hard Pinpoint Answers
Clues are abstract, niche, or written to mislead early guesses. Expect rare senses, specialized vocab, or loose-seeming links that tighten once the answer appears.

How we rate difficulty
Hard puzzles often use a sense of a word you know only from one context: a music term, a legal phrase, a sailing knot. The surface still looks like ordinary English, which is why they sting when you miss them.
On hard days, slow down. Label domains, write two candidates, and use progressive hints instead of random guessing. When you finish, read the clue-by-clue explanation; that is where the pattern training actually happens.
